Write your scenes

The screenplay editor: sluglines, formatting keys, versions and sound notes.

Click a scene to open it. The Scene tab is a screenplay editor that formats as you type and saves on its own.

  1. Set the slugline: type it, or click the chips (INT. / EXT., then DAY, NIGHT, DUSK and so on).
  2. Add a one-line summary. It appears on the scene's card on the story canvas.
  3. Write the scene. Press Tab to change the element type (Action → Character → Parenthetical → Dialogue → Slugline → Transition) and Enter to move to the next logical one, for example from a character name to their dialogue.

Try another version

Click + beside Original to start v2, v3 and so on: up to five alternate versions per scene. Whichever version tab is open is the one the AI tools and the storyboard use. The × on a version’s tab deletes it.

Note the sound

Click Set sound design to note the Ambience, Key sounds, Music and Silence for the scene, or Suggest with AI.

Use ← Previous scene and Next scene → at the top to move through the script. Changes save about a second after you stop typing. Delete scene removes the scene you’re in.
